Aston Martin’s Valhalla Spider Is the Fastest Open-Top Car the Brand Has Ever Built

Aston Martin has pulled the roof off its halo hypercar. The Valhalla Spider, revealed this week ahead of its public debut at the Concours at Wynn in Las Vegas, is the brand’s first mid-engined production supercar built from the ground up as an open-top car — and Aston Martin is calling it the fastest convertible it has ever made.

The numbers back up the claim. The Spider carries over the Valhalla coupe’s plug-in hybrid powertrain unchanged — a twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 paired with three electric motors, producing 1,079 PS (793 kW) and 1,100 Nm of torque. Aston Martin quotes 0-100 km/h in 2.5 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 350 km/h with the carbon-fibre hardtop fitted, dropping to 200 km/h with the fabric soft-top up — figures that match the closed coupe, which is unusual for an open version of a hypercar, where cutting the roof off usually costs some rigidity and outright pace. Buyers get a choice of a removable carbon-fibre hardtop or a fabric soft-top, and dry weight with the lightweight options fitted comes in at 1,680 kg.

Why the open roof matters more than the numbers

Hypercar buyers in this segment already know the coupe is blisteringly fast. What they have been waiting on is the car they can actually be seen in on Sheikh Zayed Road or outside Dubai Mall on a Thursday night, and a roofless hypercar does that job in a way a closed coupe never quite can. Ferrari, McLaren and Lamborghini have all leaned into this with Spider and Spyder variants of their own flagships, and the GCC has historically been one of the strongest markets for exactly this body style, where owners want the performance credentials and the presence of a drop-top in roughly equal measure.

Aston Martin has not announced pricing or a production number for the Spider yet, though the coupe is capped at 999 units worldwide and deliveries of that car only began reaching customers this year. Deliveries of the Spider itself are not expected until the third quarter of 2027, which means allocations will be scarce and largely spoken for well before the first car lands in the region.

What this means if you are buying or selling in Dubai

That scarcity is exactly where a dealer who knows the market earns its keep. House of Cars Dubai regularly sources allocation-limited hypercars for GCC clients through manufacturer relationships, early international deliveries, and relationships with owners looking to sell before a car reaches the open market, rather than asking a buyer to simply wait on a factory order list. If a Valhalla coupe or Spider allocation becomes available anywhere in the world over the next 18 months, that is precisely the kind of car our team tracks down for clients who do not want to wait years for the standard channel.

It also cuts the other way. Owners who already hold a Valhalla coupe order or allocation, or who are sitting on other limited-run Aston Martins, are seeing real demand from collectors who would rather buy a car today than wait on a 2027 delivery slot. If that is you, it is worth talking to someone who understands what these allocations are actually worth in the current Dubai market before deciding whether to keep the order or sell the slot.

Either way, the Valhalla Spider is a reminder of how fast the hypercar segment is moving, and how much of that movement never touches a factory order book at all.
